On January 8, 2016 the SPD Parliamentary Group agreed on a resolution on the further development of the European economic, monetary and social Union. The proposed measures not only include a completion of the European economic and social Union, but also the guarantee of a common, solid budgetary policy, which should create more stability, trust and room for manoeuvre.

Furthermore, the parliamentarians agreed on the goal of creating a fiscal Union by enhancing common fiscal policies and on using the existing European law more efficiently and to extend it if necessary.
